Street Fighter Gallery | Source Gamespot
From the Gamespot site:
Capcom has opened an art gallery dedicated to Street Fighter as part of the 15th anniversary of the
series. The Street Fighter gallery, which opened today in Akihabara's Asobit City, featured artwork used
in the series starting with the original Street Fighter. Most of the pictures on display were nothing
new--most of them have been used for ads, manuals, and other official purposes. The gallery did feature
some rare developer sketches, but close-up shots were forbidden. One of the highlights of the gallery
was a re-created scene of an artist's desk at Capcom, most likely that of Chun-li's creator Akiman
(Akira Yasuda) as suggested by the illustrations and the Gundam merchandise all over the desk. The
gallery was also selling lithographs of Akiman's work for around 200,000 yen ($1,700), and while the
price may seem high, customers were seen ordering them.
Other merchandise featured at the gallery included Street Fighter credit cards, Street Fighter cell
phone stickers, and an ad announcing a new art book to be released on June 28. The gallery's lounge
featured a shop that sold Chinese meat buns, with a lady dressed as Chun-li holding the menu and
escorting the customers. The gallery will be open until June 15 in Tokyo and will continue to tour
through other areas of Japan.

Capcom Comic Books | Source Wizard Magazine
According to the latest installment of Wizard: The Comics Magazine (Issue 142, July 2003),
Dreamwave and Capcom Entertainment have inked a deal that will bring several popular Capcom
universe characters into their own comic book series. Ready to launch this August, the new
line of Capcom books total five series in all with more unannounced titles in the works.
"A lot of the guys here, including myself, are Capcom freaks," said Dreamwave man-in-charge Pat Lee.
"We were interested in Devil May Cry because we thought it was a really interesting concept for
a comic book. So we contacted Capcom and showed them some pieces of Dante art, and they were
excited about it, and it just sprung from there! We want to make sure that we're doing these
properties justice, because we're big game fans, and we have a good understanding of the properties
from an artistic level and from a storytelling level."
The list below consists of the first wave of Capcom/Dreamwave titles:
Mega Man
Written by Brian Augustyn
Art by Michael Fong
Expected Release: September 2003
The new Capcom line will debut with the 15-year old birthday boy, Rockman in his own ongoing monthly
series. Based on the original set of games (with a few elements of Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 tossed
in for good measure), Mega Man will follow our little blue hero as he struggles to be a successful
student at school and juggle his role as robotic super hero in his off-time. Protoman, Dr. Light,
Rush, and Dr. Wily are just a few of the many familiar characters to appear in the series.
"We'll be playing with the whole Pinocchio theme" said Augustyn. "He's trying to fit into the world
of humans without being discovered as a robot. It's going to be fun and light - but with plenty of
through-the-metal danger and action!"
DarkStalkers
Written by Beau Smith
Art by Lou Kang
Expected Release: October 2003
This four-issue mini-series will serve as an origin story for the DarkStalkers mythos, and feature
nearly all of the prominent fighters from Capcom's 2D classic (including Demitri, Morrigan, and
Jedah). The book will be mostly action with a plotline scattered between each knockdown, drag-out
battle.
"It's going to be action packed with some brutal fighting, but I also want to show the readers
why these guys are fighting," Remarked Beau Smith. "It's almost like a street gang battle for
turf. Demons, monsters, and other spooky things want earth as their playground, and the good
guys want to stop that from happening. Butts will be kicked, tails will be cut off, and horns
will be locked."
Maximo
Written by Beau Smith
Art by Alan Wang
Expected Release: October 2003
Little is known about Beau Smith's second Capcom title Maximo other than the fact that it will
be a single issue one-shot gig and that it will be used to fill in the gaps left by the
videogames Ghosts to Glory and Army of Zin. In case you weren't aware, Smith also wrote the
script for the second videogame, so he definitely knows what he's doing.
"I'm going to haul as much of the game's story in as possible," Beau says.
Devil May Cry
Written by Brad Mick
Art by Pat Lee
Expected Release: February 2004
In this three-issue mini-series, Brad Mick and Pat Lee will retell the events of the original
PlayStation 2 game with the added benefit of Lee's extraordinary digitally painted artwork.
Little details and tidbits that weren't possible to reveal in the videogame will further
enhance the truth behind Dante's past, and expand upon his mythos.
Writer Brad Mick was quoted as saying "This is a fanboy's dream come true for us! The series
closely follows the story of the original PS2 title, and we follow the exploits of Dante as he
uncovers the truth about his past, present, and ultimate destiny."
Rival Schools: United By Fate - Spring Break Spectacular!
Written by TBA
Art by Rumil Sunga
Expected Release: April 2004
This one shot special will star the female squads from Rival Schools as they kick butt all over
their spring break destinations. No other details are known at this time.

Fighter game, the next Capcom vs SNK game, or even thoughts of a Marvel vs DC game.

Palisades Street Fighter toys cancelled | Source
Palisades Toys
From Palisades website:
We have some news regarding the license to produce Street Fighter action figures and collectibles.
First of all, thank you for continuing to support Palisades. While we're justifiably proud of the
attention and detail that goes into manufacturing our products, we know that it's our fans that make us
#1. The Street Fighter fans that have come to visit our site have really reminded us yet again how
passionate people are about their favorite characters and licenses. Your passion certainly gives the
Muppet fans a run for their money!
We've combined the results of a lengthy contract review with many of your comments. The conclusion is
that we have reached is to discontinue development and production of a “Street Fighter” line. This
decision was made due to our inability to reach a set of mutually agreeable terms with the licensor,
Capcom. Rather than bore you with the details, we’ll just leave it at that. Believe us when we tell you,
NOBODY is as disappointed as we are. It was something we have been really looking forward to proceeding
with.
We will be removing our Street Fighter section of the forum today, and moving all the most recent posts
to Other Topics.
Thanks again for your continued support and keep your eyes peeled for even cooler titles in the future

Guilty Gear XX #Reload announced | Source Game Watch
Game Watch has gotten the first details about the latest in the Guilty Gear series. Titled Guilty Gear
XX #Reload, the game is an upgraded version of the original Guilty Gear XX. The biggest difference is
the inclusion of Robo Ky, who was included in the PS2 version, but not in the original arcade release.
Their have also been tweaks and modifications to other characters to balance gameplay.
With this and the previously announced Guilty Gear X 1.5, an upgrade for the original Guilty Gear X

New Street Fighter toys | Source Action Figure
At the recent Toyfair, Palisades has announced that they have signed a deal with Capcom to produce new
Street Fighter figures. It was also mentioned that Darkstalkers characters would be produced as well.
There were no prototypes of the figures at the show, but Palisades did put up a few Capcom drawings
showing what the first few figures might be, so far the following figures are planned for the first and
second series, but note that this isn't absolute and may change:
1st set: Ryu, Guile, Cammy, Dhalsim, M. Bison, Lord Raptor
2nd set: Ken, Chun-li, Gen, Gill, Donovan, Morrigan
You can read the details in their press release below.
In the world of video-game combat, no game in history is as widely recognized as the
king of the world than Street Fighter™. Palisades is very pleased to announce that they recently reached
an agreement with Capcom, producer of the hugely successful video game franchise, to release action
figures and PolyStone collectibles of the unforgettable universe of Street Fighter characters.
Beginning late in the year, Palisades will release their first assortment of six figures, in a 4 to 5-
inch scale, fully articulated and ready for intense play action. Also around that time they will begin
to introduce special limited edition PolyStone busts and statues that they are designed to be both
amazingly detailed yet also more affordable than the typical PolyStone product.
Since the signing of the agreement is so fresh, no prototypes will be shown at Toy Fair 2003, but
Palisades expects to start showing some images in the summer of this highly anticipated line.
"We're going for great articulation but in an affordable size," said Michael Horn, President and CEO of
Palisades. "A few years ago, ReSaurus did a great job with Street Fighter at around 8 inches. In
today's climate, we just can't afford to continue that series where they left off. So our plan is to
take that style (angular, essentially) and integrate it into a more affordable size. Plus, we'll add
lots of articulation that those figures never had."
This line is a personal favorite for Ken Lilly, Director of Product Development, since he worked on
those Street Fighter figures in his ReSaurus days. "I can't wait to get started on this line," reports
Lilly. "There were so many things that we wanted to do, in PolyStone and plastic, and SO many
characters that we wanted to take a crack at. It's awesome to be re-visiting a license that has so much
un-tapped potential."
Expect the first assortment of these figures, and the first mini bust, in the fourth quarter of
2003

Sega and Sammy to merge | Source Reuters
Japanese video-game software maker Sega Corp. plans to integrate its operations with those of Sammy
Corp., a maker of slot machines, to become more competitive in the amusement gaming business, the
companies said Thursday.
Video-game software makers are suffering from rapidly rising costs of developing new game software for
next-generation video game machines. Sega and Sammy have yet to decide how to merge, such as whether to
swap shares, but they expect to integrate their operations by Oct. 1. Sammy president Hajime Satomi, who
is currently the largest shareholder in Sammy with a 24.3 percent stake, will become president of the
new entity.
The integration is expected to help ease the companies' development costs and accelerate the development
of technologies for new software. The announcement comes on the heels of a similar combination announced
between Japanese computer game software makers Square Co. and Enix Corp. They plan to combine operations
April 1. Sega garnered about 40 percent of its sales from the consumer game business in the fiscal year
ended last March.
Sammy is a major maker of pachinko slot machines, a popular vertical pinball game found in parlors
across Japan. It is trying to develop new businesses such as commercial video game machines and video
game software. Sega posted a group net loss of 17.8 billion yen ($148 million) last fiscal year, its
fifth straight annual loss. Sammy posted a group net profit of 23.9 billion yen ($199 million).
Separately, Sega reported a profit for the first nine months of its fiscal year but cut its forecast of
profit and revenue for the full year that ends March 31.
For the nine months ended Dec. 31, Sega reported a group profit of 3.98 billion yen ($33.2 million) on
revenue of 150.70 billion ($1.26 billion). No comparative figures were available. But it slashed its
group profit estimate to 500 million yen ($4.17 million) from an earlier forecast of 5 billion yen
($41.7 million). It also cut its revenue forecast to 195 billion yen ($1.62 billion), from 200 billion
yen ($1.67 billion). It cited disappointing game software sales in the United States and delayed
launches of new software titles in Japan.
